Happy Veganuary 2023!

Happy Veganuary, Reader! Once again, we're seeing a surge of people pledging to be vegan for the month of January (hence Veganuary) - including my own mum, which makes me very proud as she is in her 60s; proving that it's never too late to change. Seeing so many popular, mainstream omni brands like Subway, Starbucks, Greggs (in the UK), Burger King and Dominos Pizza launch new and exciting vegan products undoubtedly makes veganism more accessible, as well as sustainable for those taking part in Veganuary, ultimately making it more likely that they will remain vegan beyond January. It's therefore no longer acceptable for sceptics to discredit veganism by dubbing it 'difficult', as there's bound to be something for everyone in 2023. While it's fantastic to see how far veganism has come in recent years, it's important that we remember the brands who are developing products and making delicious, innovative plant-based foods all year round - so please prioritise supporting your local vegan café/restaurants and companies who care like Quorn, Linda McCartney, THIS, Vivera, Vegetarian Butcher, BOSH, Wicked Kitchen, etc. We should fund these organisations and establishments over non-vegan ones where possible as a first point of action. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, it's never too late to change, so whether you do it yourself or with a friend/family member you can sign up to Veganuary today! Why not encourage your colleagues to take part with the workplace challenge? Veganuary also offers a free cookbook to get you started, as well as a whole host of delicious recipes. The internet is your best friend and if you become overwhelmed or unsure if something is vegan or not, you can find the answer in an instant - take full advantage of that. Have a wonderful journey to a happier, healthier and more ethical lifestyle. Good luck! LMK
